Energy Efficiency Training

What is Building Performance Institute (BPI)?

BPI is the industry leader in providing professional certifications for the residential energy efficiency workforce.

Obtaining BPI certification enables one to be distinguished as a highly trained and skilled residential retrofit professional and home energy auditor.  BPI is on the frontline of the emerging national home retrofit market and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as the benchmark for home performance accreditation.  In fact, many retrofit programs across the country, such as Home Performance with Energy Star, require participating contractors to be certified through BPI or an organization with equivalent standards.[1]  Home Star, the proposed $6 billion retrofit rebate program, also contains this requirement.[2]

What does this mean for me?

By 2020, there will be an estimated 129 million homes across the nation that would benefit from energy efficiency retrofits.[3]  As a result, there is an enormous need for qualified professionals to provide home energy audits and perform retrofits.  BPI gives you the credentials to capitalize on this tremendous opportunity and offers you the expertise to be a part of the movement to advance home performance.

“Apple energy has done an exemplary job in meeting our needs here at the Governor’s Energy Office. Their experience and ability to explain the processes of running NEAT and MHEA to our local administering agencies has been an excellent tool to keep our Weatherization program in line with Doe regulations.  Their communication and commitment to the project has been of the highest caliber. Response time has been quick, concise and helpful.  I wish to thank Greg, George, John, Jim and the entire team at Apple Energy Group for their part in the success of our program, and I look forward to working with them again in the future.”
